Axiom Space Is Building What Comes After the ISS

For more than 25 years, humanity has maintained a continuous presence in orbit. But as the ISS moves toward the end of its operational life, a new race is beginning — one that could completely change who builds, owns, and operates the next generation of space stations. In this documentary, Wormhole to Cosmos explores the story of Axiom Space and its ambitious plan to build a commercial space station that will begin its life connected to the ISS before eventually operating independently in low-Earth orbit. We look inside the future station, follow its modules from manufacturing and welding in Turin, Italy, to final integration in Houston, and explore the technology, engineering, and people behind the project. We also examine Axiom’s founders and experienced astronaut team, its private missions to the ISS, the challenges the company has faced, and the major changes made to the station’s design and assembly plan. And Axiom’s ambitions go far beyond an orbital station. The company is also developing the AxEMU lunar spacesuit for NASA’s Artemis program — technology designed to help astronauts return to the surface of the Moon. Axiom is not alone.
