4K Replay: Falcon 9 creates a giant “Space Jellyfish” in the sky (5.1 surround sound)

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying supplies and equipment to the International Space Station lifted off before dawn on Oct. 13, 2026, creating a spectacular sight in the sky along the Eastern Seaboard. A "space jellyfish" is created when a rocket's plume enters the light from the rising sun, as seen by the observer on the ground against a dark sky. This was particularly pronounced on this occasion as plumes from the Falcon 9 first and second stages interacted. Listen to the rumble of liftoff through booster landing in 5.1 surround sound (if supported by your speaker system) and enjoy 4K views from a variety of cameras positioned around Cape Canaveral. Be sure to stay tuned for the sonic booms of landing. The CRS-35 Cargo Dragon mission carried 6,300 pounds of science and supplies, including a new set of solar arrays to power the orbiting outpost. Liftoff occurred at 6:33 a.m. EDT (1033 UTC).
