Spy satellite to space telescope: Meet NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman

NASA's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is slated to launch atop a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket no earlier than Sunday, Aug. 30, at 7:26 a.m. EDT (1126 UTC). The observatory, named for NASA's first Chief of Astronomy, is built to capture wide swaths of the universe and observe exoplanets using a first-of-its-kind active coronagraph. Researchers believe that the Roman Space Telescope will gather such vast quantities of data that more can be learned about the nature of dark matter and dark energy.
