NASA Technicians Install Ring for Artemis III Spacer Hardware

Another milestone welded into place! 🧑🏭 Technicians at NASA Marshall recently welded the forward ring on the bottom of the Artemis III spacer's barrel section. This spacer will take the place of the interim cryogenic propulsion stage (ICPS) on Artemis III, with the ICPS reassigned for use on the Artemis IV mission. Up next: Teams will install the aft ring at the top of the barrel. Video description: This video shows various views of the spacer barrel for NASA's SLS (Space Launch System), which will be used for the Artemis III mission. Inside a high-bay manufacturing facility at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, the large silver barrel is seen in the air hovering vertically as technicians install a large ring at the bottom. Blue and yellow platforms, scaffolding, and specialized welding equipment surround the large piece of hardware. Source:
