The Entire History Of The Moon

The Moon’s surface is a dated record of the early Solar System, but only if you know which rocks and which craters actually mark the boundaries. This video walks through the geological history from the magma ocean and the flotation crust, through the big basins and the revised late heavy bombardment, the mare floods, and the young rayed craters. It covers how the periods were defined, which samples pin the absolute ages, and why the near side and far side ended up so different.
