WHAT TO LOOK FOR ALONG THE ROUTE • Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon: The Gulf of Guinea coastline, dense tropical vegetation, and perhaps the volcanic terrain around Mount Cameroon. • Chad: The transition into the Sahara. In northern Chad, the Tibesti Mountains contain enormous volcanic landforms, including Emi Koussi. • Libya and Egypt: Vast sand seas and rocky desert give way to the Nile’s narrow green corridor. If the view reaches northern Egypt, look for the Nile Delta spreading toward the Mediterranean. • Israel and Palestine: Depending on the camera angle, look for the Mediterranean coast or the deep Jordan Rift Valley and Dead Sea. • Syria and Turkey: The Euphrates River cuts through an otherwise dry landscape. Farther north and east, mountain ranges and Lake Van may stand out. • Iran, Azerbaijan, and Armenia: Look for the folds of Iran’s mountain terrain, the Caucasus region, and the Caspian Sea’s western shore.
